While reading these rules, #6 & #9 were the 2 rules that impressed me most. I have noticed that all the kids that I am working with this year like for me to ask them about their weekend, ballgames, etc. I think that rule #9 would be great to teach the children. It would make the world a more pleasant place!!
As I have read this book, I keep reflecting back on my discipline with Katelyn. I believe this is a book that parents need to invest time in reading. As Tracy said, this world would be a much more pleasant place.
I think Rule #9 is essential in the classroom, work place and in everyday life. As simple as it may seem, saying "Thank You" goes so far. It surprises me the amount of kids that just expect something and do not feel the need to say thank you. I would love to reinforce this rule in my classroom, but find it harsh to take something away if they do not say thank you within 3 seconds. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can encourage this rule in a more positive manner?
I too have difficulty with rule #9 and taking something away if no thank-you is said. I would expect that children would quickly learn to say thank you if it was inforced.
I am married to a wonderful man, Bradley! We have a beautiful, 4 year-old daughter, Katelyn. We love to spend time together as a family.
I love teaching! I feel God has blessed me with this opportunity and I try each and every day to put forth 110%. I feel I need to be one of the best role models for my kids and my daughter. I am not perfect and continue to learn each day. I want to look back and say (as Ron Clark did), "I learned, I laughed, and I had the time of my life."

I liked rules 9 & 10. I hate to see any kids, especially my own, be ungrateful. I would love to see rule 9 implemented in the classrooms.
Happy day,
